Lexus Just Introduced A Far More Affordable Plug-In Hybrid

  • Lexus has introduced the 2026 RX, which features extra equipment and a new appearance package.
  • There’s also a new RX 450h+ Premium, which costs $6,630 less than the Luxury variant.
  • The crossover offers three powertrains and starts at $51,175, which is $600 more than last year’s model.

Lexus’ best-selling vehicle is heading into 2026 with a handful of minor updates. However, they’re welcome changes as buyers will find additional standard equipment, an appearance package, and an expanded plug-in hybrid lineup.

adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){

} else {

}
});

Set to arrive later this year, the 2026 RX will come standard with a wireless smartphone charger. It’s about time as having to pay for a phone charger on a luxury crossover that costs over $50,000 is kind of ridiculous.

On the styling front, F Sport Handling and F Sport Performance variants can be equipped with a new appearance package that is based on last year’s Black Line Special Edition. Models equipped with the package have an UItra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Incognito, or Caviar exterior with black accents and black 21-inch wheels that are backed up by orange brake calipers. Buyers will also find a black interior with gray contrast stitching.

Last but not least, the RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid lineup is expanding to include a new Premium trim. It starts at $66,680, which makes it far more affordable than the $73,310 RX 450h+ Luxury.

Lexus didn’t say much about it, but the RX 450h+ Premium should come nicely equipped with a power liftgate, a moonroof, and 21-inch wheels. Buyers can also look forward to heated and ventilated front seats wrapped in NuLuxe upholstery.

Rounding out the highlights are a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14-inch infotainment system. They should be joined by a power steering wheel, an ambient lighting system, and a 12-speaker audio system.

As before, there’s an RX for everyone as Lexus offers seven trims and four powertrains. The company can’t even keep track of them as they, once again, incorrectly stated the RX 350 has a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s actually a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that develops 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS) and 317 lb-ft (429 Nm) of torque.

Customers can also get two hybrids in the form of the 350h and 500h. The former has 246 hp (183 kW / 249 PS) and 233 lb-ft (316 Nm) of torque, while the latter boasts 366 hp (273 kW / 371 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm).

} else {

}
});

Lastly, there’s the RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. It has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, three electric motors, and an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This gives the model a combined output of 304 hp (227 kW / 308 PS) and an electric-only range of 38 miles (61 km).

Pricing starts at $51,175, which includes a $1,450 destination fee. That’s up $600 and it appears this increase is across the board.
