Porsche And Bentley Get Colorful For Monterey

  • Bentley has introduced a new ombre paint option by Mulliner.
  • It takes two people over 56 hours to create the unique paint fade.
  • Porsche is honoring ANDIAL with a retro-inspired livery for the 911 GT3.

Bentley and Porsche are part of the Volkswagen Group, so it’s fitting that both brands embraced color at Monterey Car Week. However, while the theme was the same, the execution was different.

} else {

}
});

Starting with Bentley, the ultra-luxury brand unveiled a new Ombre by Mulliner paint option. It’s being billed as one of the “most complex paint offerings to date” and requires over 56 hours to create a colorful transition between two separate hues.

The option is debuting on a personally commissioned Continental GT Speed, which goes from Topaz at the front to Windsor Blue at the back. As an added bonus, the 22-inch wheels have a two-tone design that features black and Topaz at the front as well as black and Windsor Blue out back.

The transition is echoed inside as the front passenger compartment has light blue Topaz leather, while the rear has darker leather with Dragonfly accents. They’re joined by Satin Beluga painted veneers, a Naim audio system, and the Dark Chrome Interior Specification.

While this is a one-off model, Mulliner will offer an ombre option in three different combinations. That’s pretty limited for a team that specializes in customization, but Bentley explained that “due to the complexity of how the two paints combine, the choice of colors” had to be “specifically curated.”

Porsche 911 GT3 ANDIAL

Porsche went in a different direction as they decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ANDIAL with a new livery package for the 911 GT3. It draws inspiration from the ANDIAL 935-L and costs $7,680.

That’s pretty steep, but Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur will apply a tri-color partial wrap and decal set that ushers in retro awesomeness. Customers can specify their own number for the car and they can also have their name and country flag added above the doors.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};

} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“9b1169d9-7a89-4971-a77f-1397f7588751”);
}
});

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur will also offer a series of extras including a “specially painted key, key pouch, owner’s manual case, floor mats, and door sill guards … bearing the ANDIAL logo.” The company also mentioned a retrofit wrap for customers who already own a GT3.

If ANDIAL doesn’t ring a bell, it was a racing and tuning company founded by Arnold Wagner (“AN”), Dieter Inzenhofer (“DI”), and Alwin Springer (“AL”). It was formed in 1975 and the automaker said they “evolved into one of America’s most successful and respected authorities on Porsche performance tuning for the track and the street.”
