V6s Be Damned, Durango Goes Hemi-Only For 2026

  • The entire Dodge Durango lineup will be powered by Hemi engines.
  • The GT’s 3.6-liter V6 has been replaced by a new 5.7-liter V8.
  • After being dropped in 2025, the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 returns on the R/T.

Dodge has introduced the 2026 Durango GT and it’s got a Hemi-sized surprise. This is notable as it means the entire Durango lineup is now powered exclusively by Hemi engines.

Starting with the GT, the three-row crossover trades its 3.6-liter V6 for a new 5.7-liter V8. As a result, the model now has an extra 65 hp (48 kW / 66 PS) and 130 lb-ft (176 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph, the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time falls from 7.4 to 6.2 seconds, while the towing capacity climbs by up to 40%.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a freebie as pricing starts at $42,495 with all-wheel drive. That’s an increase of $2,000 but Dodge noted it’s the “most affordable AWD V8 vehicle in the industry.”

The Durango R/T also gets a boost as the company confirmed the model will be offered with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that was dropped for 2025. This appears to be an option as Dodge described the powertrain as “available” and an “upgrade.”

Regardless, it’ll cost less than $50,000 and have 475 hp (354 kW / 482 PS) as well as 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. That’s a big jump up from the 5.7-liter V8’s 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 390 lb-ft (528 Nm).

Last but not least, the Durango SRT Hellcat has gotten a $5,000 price cut as the model now begins at $79,995 instead of $84,995. The company said it delivers “unmatched performance at a new level of value.”

As for the Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak that was announced earlier today? Its customization options can be unlocked for an additional $995.

Both Hellcats have a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 710 hp (529 kW / 720 PS) and 645 lb-ft (874 Nm) of torque. It enables them to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).

Orders for the Durango GT and SRT Hellcat open August 13, while Durango R/T availability will come later this year.
