Tesla Can Fix Your Car From Space Unless It’s The Horn

  • Tesla is recalling five Model Ys in the US over a faulty horn ground wire.
  • Affected vehicles were built between March 27 and July 10, 2025, in the US.
  • The company has received two warranty claims tied to the issue so far.

While Tesla hasn’t seen anywhere near the volume of issues Ford has this year, it has still sent out its fair share of recall notices in the US over the past few months. The latest addition to that list affects the electric automaker’s best-selling vehicle, the Model Y.

adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106-c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”);
} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f”);
}
});

This particular recall isn’t tied to a major safety threat, but rather to something more mundane—the horn. According to Tesla, the ground wire that powers the horn might not be properly secured. If that’s the case, the horn could stop working. And unlike some other issues the automaker has tackled with software updates, this one requires a hands-on fix at a service center.

The good news for Tesla is that just five Model Ys in the United States appear to suffer from this defect. All of them were manufactured between March 27, 2025, and July 10, 2025. Tesla says that supplier Yanfeng International may have failed to secure the ring terminal of the horn ground wire, leading to a loss of continuity on the horn circuit.

So far, the company has logged two related warranty claims but hasn’t received reports of any crashes, injuries, or fatalities tied to the issue.

The problem came to light on July 9 when Tesla staff encountered a steering wheel with a horn that only worked intermittently. That was enough to trigger an investigation and ultimately, the recall.

Tesla plans to notify affected owners around September 23. Once notified, owners will be asked to visit a service center where technicians will inspect the horn’s ground wire. If it’s found to be improperly secured, they’ll fix it according to the standard specifications at no charge, as usual.
